PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS

This maginificent neoclassical style building is bold with red bricks and white plaster panelling that bring out the beauty of the doric columns and classical pediment. It is a working building in use today for parliamentary sessions. The original building was completed in 1884. COMPANY GARDENS SCULPTURE

This memorable war memoral sculpture was unveiled in 1930 and commemorates English and Afrikaans soldiers who fought side by side in Delville wood France as well as other battles during World War II. THE JEWISH MUSUEM

The building is South Africa's first synogogue which was built in 1863. During the year 2000 Nelson Mandela himself open the musuem section which is architecturally significant. SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL ART GALLERY

Opened to the public in 1930, the building houses outstanding collections of art mostly in the form of of paintings. It is now run by the Iziko museums of South Africa. GROOT CONSTANTIA

This significant Cape Dutch Style building stands on a wine farm just on the South Side of Table mountain. The roof burnt down and the house was restored to more than its former glory in 1925. The gable is in the Neoclassical style and was originally built by Simon van der Stel, one of the first governers of Cape Town around 1685. It is one of the earliest Cape Dutch buildlings. THE CITY HALL

TUYNHUIS

Originally built in 1682, this South African Heritage site has traditionally been the presidents home while in office, much like the white house in America. Conveniently located near the houses of parliament!

CLOCK TOWER

The clock tower is located in the V & A waterfront complex and us built in the interesting victorian-gothic style. Originally built as the port captains office in 1882, this is usually painted red as per the original colour, but in 2014 it was given a coat of yellow to celebrate the design indaba that took place in the city. On the ground floor is a mechanism for checking the height of the tides - knowledge useful for ships in the harbour, while the top story was a look-out point to overview the harbour. THE HUGUENOT MONUMENT

The monument was designed by J.C Jongens in 1945 and consists of three stone arches that represent the Holy Trinity. It was inaugurated in 1948.It has become one of the key tourist attractions in the vicinity of Cape Town. Its stands next to the Huguenot museum which explains the history of the French Huguenots who settled in South Africa in the late 1600's to escape religious persecution if France. MOUILLE POINT LIGHTHOUSE
